I am attempting to secure a newly setup external facing HTTPS Ubuntu file distribution point. Is it possible to prevent downloading a file with the absolute path using .htpasswd/.htaccess files?

+15from experience with web development .htaccess is very powerful and should prevent access. but i am not an expert on this subject! shouldl work though.
