Proxy settings are for everybody but Apple

I have a domain joined device on 10.14 and it uses an "Automatic Proxy Configuration" for the network connection. When I open Chrome, I get prompted for authentication to the proxy. Yet, when I use any Apple specific apps (News, Stocks, App Store), they all fail to connect. Not one prompts for authentication. I wish Apple would get it through their heads that not everyone wants to whitelist *.apple.com (now that 17.*.*.* is no longer enough) on their proxy. If a system-level proxy is specified, their apps should work with it like most other third party apps we install. /rant
