Recommendations for File Recovery Software

Hello fellow Mac admins, do any of you use a particular piece of software for recovering lost files (we don't use Time machine)?

Data Rescue 3 (4 just got released) by Prosoft. I've used several times and it works great. Even on formatted HD, it stills recovers data.

Data Rescue works great to get files back.

I have used this in the past, strange command line tool but it got it done.
