Recon app not working on Monterey

Seeing an error running Recon on two Monterey laptops - "A connection error occurred: SSH failed to create session with host 127.0.0.1 (Error retrieving last session error due to absence of an active session.). Both computers are M1, one is M1 Macbook Air (macOS 12.0.1) and the other is M1Pro Macbook Pro (macOS 12.1).  Other M1 laptops (on Big Sur) are not having issues with Recon.  JSS is cloud hosted, version 10.35.

  • Double checked that the management account and password are correct
  • I am able to SSH in to the machines from another Mac
  • Sudo jamf recon works
  • sudo jamf manage completes with no issues

Any thoughts on where to look next?

tldr; Due to security changes in macOS, enrolling computers with macOS 11 or later in Jamf Pro using Recon is not supported.

I am having the exact same experience. Our JSS is on-premise, but everything you've stated is the same. Did you find a resolution? I've been hunting around but can't find a solution.

We have not found a resolution, need to open a ticket with Jamf.

Okay - thank you. I'll do that as well.
