Security Update 2017-001 installed and now apps crash on open

I have gotten a report of a user installing the latest Security Update (2017-001) which resolves the WiFi KRACK vulnerability and being unable to open apps like Safari, Chrome, Word, Outlook after install.

Has anyone run into this?
