Shrinking a Mavericks USB/Netboot Image?

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to shrink down a Mavericks install for Casper Imaging purposes? I'm having trouble getting Mavericks down to where it fits comfortably on an 8GB USB drive.

I usually go with "hack and slash" making educated guesses about what I can trim and still allow the OS to boot with the resources it needs, but 10.9 is more challenging.

I made the standard install of Mavericks; enabled root with autologin as root. CHANGE the name of HDD from Macintosh HD to Casper. Added Casper Imaging to the application and ran it once to make sure it would connect to our JSS and to save the settings for it. Shut down and restarted to make sure my disk utility and imaging auto start at login. Shutdown and then built a NetBoot image with the Server App. Once the Dmg was created I converted it to a read write image using disk utility. Opened the image up and ran my script from terminal as root. Make sure the the Mount point is the same name as the drive mount point you want to delete stuff from. Feel free to delete some of the new apps like maps and what not from the Applications folder after the script runs. Once it is to your liking use disk utility to covert it to read only which should be about 4gb.
