smb issues while bound to AD

Hello,

Sorry, not really Casper related...

Running Leopard 10.5.8 bound to AD. I have seen issues where AD users are recieving messages when they try to copy a file to a windows smb share stating that they may need to be an administrator to copy the file. Going into the console log I always see messages like this:

12/8/09 12:23:22 PM kernel smbfs_composeacl: smbfs_setattr+1 13, ignored

To me it looks like it is trying to write an acl but failing. I verify that there is no ACL on the file, however I never can copy the file up to the server.

If I log into a local account and mount a windows share... I can copy files just fine. My first thoughts were smb signing. I played with disabling and enabling it on the client with no different results. I'm having the windows server group take a look to see if it is enabled on their servers or not.

Anyone come across this before? I'm going to try binding a machine using likewise to see if there is any difference.

Thank you,
Ken

Try giving one of the users admin rights and see if that makes a
difference.

If this is a Windows based server that your share is located you may need to
make sure the permissions for the share point is set to Full Control for
that user or everyone if you then use NTFS permissions for actual
permissions underneath.

We had issues with Office writing files because shares were not set with
Full Control rights on the share portion of permissions for the
user/everyone.

I will check on this... thank you!

I believe I've tried this before and it did not work... infact I'm a local admin of my machine and I can reproduce the issue using my account.

Thanks,
Ken
