Hoping somebody might have some ideas.
A student recently showed us that he was able to access Terminal even though we have it blocked. He did this by copying the application to the his home folder and simply renaming it. I spoke with JAMF and they said that it turns out software filtering is used by application name, not the actual process you would see in Activity Monitor.
The students do not have administrator access. I know there is an option to have a whitelist and blacklist but I think those are only for folders? Would there be a way to prevent renaming applications within the application folder?
I'm open to any ideas anyone may have!
Edit: Corrected where students were copying the application to. Refer to coworker Gsquared's post for more info.
