SWU set but where?

I have SWU servers set in each country, I have them applied to the buildings/networks etc in settings.
and now I have updates showing up finally in the JSS, but when I check the plist for softwareupdate I do not see that CatalogURL is being set. And when I run software update it does not show that its connecting to the internal server, so naturally I decided that set server box in the packages pane might be useful, I set the update server on a workstation and then read the preference file again nothing, so I thought to myself maybe its in root that they set the local server, no not in that preference file either.

so it appears to me that while I have internal update servers setup and working which makes the stupid JSS curl check for updates work, nothing else is using it, and the set server button on the software pane is useless, or am I missing something?

Hi Todd,
The "Set Server" checkbox will apply only if you set the override SUS on
the General tab of the policy.

You could create a policy for each network segment that runs every15 (or
once daily) for the specific segment and sets the appropriate SUS via the
override. Make sure to check the box you reference in the Packages tab to
"Set Server". If you would like assistance, just post screen shots of
your progress.

I have found this to be the best way to ensure internal SUS use.

We've flipped over to defining SUSes via MCX.

Oh BTW I found out from support that there is a set server system wide box
in the settings area of jss software update server, and that applies to the
workstation putting the setting in /Library.
thanks.
