Howdy!

I am trying to install an app called SwitchResX on some Macs to allow more control over resolutions for the end users. All my other apps have been installing fine within Self Service, but I can not get this one to install at all after setting it up in Composer and then deploying it. The only difference is this app does not install in the Apps folder but in the System Settings/Preferences on the Mac.

Are there any additional resources or things I should look out for when trying to install this type of application?

I'm not sure, if this is the issue - but the correct install path should be:

/Library/PreferencePanes/SwitchResX.prefPane

What error(s) do you get excactly?

Hey chrisB!

Indeed, that is the file path I have for this app in Composer. There are also some additional files in PrivilegedHelperTools and LaunchDaemons in the System Library too.

I don't get any errors, Self Service completes like any other app install, but nothing appears in the System Settings panel when complete. Nothing shows in the PreferencePanes folder when done, but the other items do show they were copied. Perhaps a permissions issue?

I just tested for SwitchResX.prefPane; I created a package with Composer and got it installed from self service - with no issues.

I'll recreate Composer with just that folder and report back. Otherwise, I'll have questions about what version of VooDoo you're running. 🙃

When in doubt, start from scratch. It works now. so I fumbled something the first (or second) time. Thanks @chrisB
