We have a client that is about to roll out a a one to one laptop program. The laptops are bound to AD and managed by casper. They want to have all student users as non-admin, but want them to be able to configure time machine.

Anyone got a work around for this.

They are willing to accept that a user must name their backup drive as the same to try and push out a MCX, however I have tried using com.apple.MCX.TimeMachine with a string "BackupDestURL" with a value "/Volumes/Backup" however this does not seam to work

Sounds like a job for MCX...Though do realize TM uses hard links to back ups, meaning if you move it around on other volumes it may freak out.
