Hi everyone,
I realise this has nothing to do with JSS or Apple management in general, but since this community is the only place (besides the Google Support) that provides good information, I thought I would give it a try and ask here.
At our school, we are heavily using Google Drive and we're using ManageBac as a virtual learning environment. Lately, we have noticed that during a file upload in Safari on iPads, it takes forever for Google Drive content to load before uploading. Let me write down the exact process in more detail so you can get a better picture of what I'm talking about:
- the Google Drive app is installed on the iPad, the student is signed in with a managed GSuite account - the app functions well, as expected
- student goes to ManageBac, and tries to uplad a file, using Google Drive as a source
- it takes a long time (several minutes) for the content of the Drive to show up in the browser
- when a file is selected (PDF file, 5 MB), it takes cca. 10 minutes for the file to preload
- after a long time, the file is uploaded
What we noticed is, that if the student goes into the Google Drive app itself and signs out, and then goes to Safari and signs in to Google Drive while selecting the file during the upload process, once they're signed in, the upload goes fast, as expected.
The bandwidth is not maxed out, and the iOS and iPad models are different models (everything from iOS 9.3.5 to the latest version).
Anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you solve it?
Thank you!
