Does anyone know if there is a way to add an additional 'folder' to the locations that are reported-on in the Installed Applications List.

We install a standard set of applications on each computer in the usual place ... /Applications/
We install non-standard, user requested Apps in an alternate location in the Users directory... /Users/'SomeUser'/Applications/

These applications are not reported in the "Installed Applications" list.

Can this alternate location be added to the client-reporting process to capture this data?

While it may not be integrated into your current reports (as I think Casper would need to be modified) you can probably run a script that does an "LS -R *.app ~/Applications" to a file. Once you've got it in a file, you can massage it as needed. It wouldn't give you versions, which may make that useless....

Just a thought.

I'm new to this, but can't you just go to

Admin tab ->Inventory Options -> Inventory Preferences ->Software tab

And add /Users to the Application scope.

I would think that would collect any apps sitting in user profiles.

Again I'm very new to Casper, so someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

Yup. Unless /Users is somehow "special". I haven't tried it myself. Clients aren't allowed to keep apps in their home folders (according to
AUP) and can't launch them from there (per MCX and/or Casper) in the
environments I've worked with.
I'd suggest /Library as a location for organization-specific items. Unless
you have a compelling reason not to, I'd include all apps in /Applications. If you have apps that are only deployed to a subset of clients, you can
accomplish this with narrowly scoped Casper policies.
