JAMF Software was founded in 2002, and it wasn’t until 2007 that Halmstad and Pearson were comfortable bringing on employees. The name for the company was chosen pretty much at random. It’s a reference to a character in Thomas Pynchon’s novel, “Gravity’s Rainbow.”
+1I heard it straight from Zach, the founder. I met him when I was at MTV in 2006. It stands for Jive Ass Mother Fucker.
+9If you have to go before your board of directors or name it in an official report for management, tell them it stands for Java Apple Management Framework. Seems to keep management happy with a techy acronym.
