What would cause OS X to loop at Startup?

I am in a pickle now.
I was testing a little script that I want to be run after imaging. When the computer reboots after imaging the machine will reboot, then reboot then reboot. I re-created my image and took the script out and the machine still will not completely load the OS. The line gets almost all the way then the machine reboots. This image was working all of last week and when I came in this morning , chaos.
What could possibly be the problem?

Solved.

We had here an issue where a config profile with loginwindow settings made loginwindow loop all the time. This makes it feel as if the system loops.
By connecting via ssh to that system and checking /var/log/system ....
we found the problem. Removing the profile and putting in a correct one resolved it. may be a hint for you

Update: did not see the solved.

In our experience with OS X 10.11.1 through 10.11.3 inclusive, if a Configuration Profile included the Login Window payload which disabled automatic login, when /var/db/.AppleSetupDone did not exsist, Setup Assistant would not appear as expected and the computer would reboot.

This was resolved in OS X 10.11.4.
