Is it possible to configure an 8.6 JSS on Windows Server 2008 R2 to use a proxy server to send and receive the Apple Push Notifications requests. If so, how?

I suspect that you'll have issues trying to get that traffic to go through a proxy server as the APN requests are not HTTP, they are a custom protocol.

You'll need to open the ports up on the firewall for this to work

Please look at: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4264?viewlocale=en_US
Key Text: If there is a proxy server on the network, the device will not be able to use APNs, because APNs requires a direct and persistent connection from device to server.

This issue here is the JSS is not proxy aware. We recently discovered this in our environment, now we are scrambling to find a solution. For now we will be investigating a SOCKS solution.

I'll be putting a feature request in today. This is a borderline show stopper for us.

Only way out is punching holes in the firewall.
