Hi Community members,
I am the IT and Apple Support Specialist for a high school with just under 900 students and have 300 classes in Apple School manager / Jamf School.
Has anyone come across a way for me to view which teachers enabled restrictions on a particular student? Say a log of some sort like we have an audit log for changes made in Jamf School. Perhaps there is a way to do it through the API?
I say this because there is often a case where several students come to me and says their apps are missing, so I remove teacher restrictions and they are back. This often occurs when a teacher forgets to leave a class and clear restrictions on either Jamf Teacher or Apple Classroom after their lesson ends. I need to check the logs and see whether it is any specific teacher that does this.

I'm not sure this is exactly what you're looking for, but you can see a log for Jamf Teacher in Jamf School.
Go to Devices > Devices > select the student device > in the device left toolbar is 'Jamf School Teacher' > click it and you'll see a log of teacher activated restrictions.
Apple Classroom should be just getting out of bluetooth range or turning off bluetooth & wi-fi to disconnect from the class. This does depend upon some setting made in your MDM profiles & restrictions though. Specifically, "Require teacher permission to leave teacher-created classes in Apple's Classroom app".in you Apple Classroom section of Restrictions.
I hope this helps some.

I personally would leave that setting on. What that is supposed to prevent is a student from just quitting the class themselves on their device. With that on, a student can't remove themselves from an Apple Classroom class. It makes no relevancy to Jamf Teacher/Student connections.
In my 'limited' experience, I don't believe that setting should affect the locking down of apps after the student has gotten clear of the Bluetooth coverage of that teacher. That said, I might play around with that and see if in fact the teacher has to 'End Class' in Apple Classroom to remove any lockdowns created by Classroom.
Now this of course is a moot point if the teachers are only using Jamf Teacher to lock down the apps. I just thought of this, what is your time setting for the "Restriction Time & Automatic Clear" section in Organization > Settings > Jamf Teacher? I have mine set for the length of the periods. If the teachers always use the maximum allowed and they start the class restrictions late in the period without clearing them at the end, it 'should' auto clear after XX minutes. Again, this is if it works as advertised. :-)

This help’s some what thank you. I was aware of the per device > Jamf Teacher, I am a bit hesitant at disabling “Require teacher permission to leave teacher-created classes in Apple's Classroom app” - teachers don’t create the class, I do in Apple School Manager.
