*.jamfcloud.com certificate expired, iPads not checking in

After the update to iPadOS 17, our iPads show the *.jamfcloud.com certificate as expired.
All iPads that show this error have stopped checking in to JAMF.
Even though the expiration date is shown as March 2022, the iPads that are still on iPadOS 16.x are still checking in right now.

Our profile doesn't allow resetting the iPads or adding a new MDM, and I can't push a changed profile because the iPads are not checking in.
We don't have a device that can run Apple Configurator either, so we can't batch reset them.

Is there any way this problem can be solved?

Hi,

First of all, I feel sorry for the issues you have with the MDM. I think your issue might be related to my issue in https://community.jamf.com/t5/jamf-school/shared-ipad-ipados-17-issues/m-p/300634/emcs_t/S2h8ZW1haWx....

You can still reset your iPads with a Windows Computer if you do not have a Mac running Apple Configurator.

Therefore grab a Windows PC and install iTunes or Apples new device manager app https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/vorschau-von-%E2%80%9Eappleger%C3%A4te%E2%80%9C/9NP83LWLPZ9K.

After installation take a USB cable and connect it to the PC and the iPad (one by one). Then boot the iPad into recovery mode: https://support.apple.com/de-de/HT212787#:~:text=Halte%20die%20Verbindung%20deines%20iPad,lasse%20si....

After this you should be able to recover your iPad from iTunes or the devices app. If your device is connected to ASM the iPad will reconnect as soon as the setup is finished.

This will be a very annoying process depending on the number of devices.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Kind regards

Hi Sjet,

We are yet to find a simple solution to this issue and we have had it across 800 devices. The only real solution we have found is to update to iOS17 and reenroll the device. This takes about 30 mins per device.

@jamf please provide us with a solution!
