transfer devices in jamf

Hello community,

currently having the issue that we have two different accounts (asm/jamf). for a better experience we want to consolidate these, but not sure what the correct way is and I can't find any relevant articles. all iPads on both accounts are DEP registered.

1. adapt the DEP registration from ASM account 1) to account 2) - then the devices automatically end up in Jamf? (if yes, can we do this on our own?)

2. remove the devices from an account (via ASM) and add them to Jamf via Mac and Apple Configurator 2

or is there another way?

Thanks in advance.

To migrate between ASM you need to contact Apple. They used to have magic sause they would run on the backend to do that, though I am not sure if that is still a thing. If not, you will need to use Apple Configurator and manually remove and readd devices.

To migrate between Jamf instances, you will need to release the device from the old instance and enroll the device in the new instance. Ideally you would use Automated Devie Enrollment to get Superviison over the devices, which requires you to tell ASM to use the desired Jamf instance.

thank you. I called Apple but they said it's easier to just enroll them in the new instance, which we are doing now.

Note: if you add the Device to ABM via Apple Configurator, it has 30 30-day time period in which users can remove the MDM Profile.

We're hoping the students are not playing around with the iPads and delete the profile, but that's something we just have to live with.

Thank you for the note.
