Question

Packaging iTunes for deployment with Casper

Hey All-

For reasons I won't go into now, we can't update our users iTunes with Apple
Software Update. I was thinking of packaging iTunes 9.1.1 and deploying it
with Casper. Has anyone attempted this and was it successful?

Thx
Jon

Any reason why you're not just dropping the .pkg file directly into Casper Admin? It doesn't need repackaging.

We want to use it with imaging and thought all the packages needed to be
.dmg's for that. Is that not so?

thx,
Jon

No Jon they can be pkg's mpkg's or dmg, personally I go for all or most pkg/ mpkg

I've found them faster and smaller than dmg's

I have a self service policy that installs the latest safari, quick time and iTunes. I just download the PKG files and toss them into Casper Admin, then create a policy users can execute. This is all going to change because I finally have SUS set up now.
