I have never had the privilege to use/image one of the older Airs or one of the new airs. We are currently looking at these as possible student laptops. Since they do not have ethernet, what is going to be the best way to image them with Casper?

I use a Lacie hardrive with multiple partitions.

One partition is a simple small bootable OS
One partition is a JSS repo

Boot to the external OS and run imaging from the repo. After reboot be sure to run recon and all is well.

The new ones come with a thumb drive right, to restore the software with? You could sync the JSS to an external drive and boot from it and have Casper Imaging run from the external.

Hi Karl,

I recommend using the Apple USB Ethernet adapters. Just be sure to enter
them as Removable MAC Addresses in your JSS (Page 178 in the Casper Suite
7.3 Administrator's Guide - link below).

Hi all,

Sorry about the half-message. Too many windows open and my keystroke went
to the wrong app!

Here's the link for the Casper Suite 7.3 Administrator's Guide...

I hope it's helpful.

Slightly off topic. The MacBook Air does not have a Kensington Lock slot for security. Not sure how that plays into providing them to your students.

Thanks
