We use Windows print servers queues with our Mac clients. Printers are installed with the LPD protocol. Printing works OK, but sometimes we run into driver compatibility issues.
Is anyone using IPP for printers from Windows server to Mac clients? Is there any benefits over LPD? Any comments either way?
What driver compatibility issues "Exactly" are you running into?
Do you have the correct driver for the printer on the Mac? Is it a PostScript printer?
Are your machines AD bound? Have you tried SMB print queues?
One thing to note is that OS X computers will not use the driver that is installed on the print server, it needs to be installed locally for it to work.
Also, +1 for SMB shares. LPD was deprecated on Windows Server 2012.
