The name "Jamf" is a reference to Laszlo Jamf, a character in the novel Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. 

It’s not an acronym. It’s not rude. It’s not what happens when you type “f” really hard.

Knowing is half the battle. . .

Casper is the friendly ghost, so he is probably happy with it all.

 


From what I understand there is a meaning, but Jamf has no intent on disclosing what it actually means and they leave the community to speculate. I heard this on Jamf After Dark some time back.

My CCT course I think it was they said it came from a book the founders read in college. Can’t remember the book but it didn’t jump out at me.


Can’t find the link to the jamF rebrand video (on YouTube) with Dean Hager…

but it’s a fun one to watch.
