From the research I've been doing I understand that PHDs are a very bad thing.
Other than going down the CrashPlan route, does anyone have any solutions for syncing data to network drives when customers are off-site? Perhaps based on rsync or unison file synchronizer?
Any examples would be fantastic - thanks for your help.
I know that it costs money, depending upon how you go about using Crashplan, but if the data is that important use a product that you know is going to work instead of trying to patch something together. A product that is going to get updated for you so you don't have to maintain its functionality. I know you were asking for help NOT using Crashplan as an option, but I really think you need to reconsider.
+1 for Craig's suggestion. If money is really an object, Code42 (CrashPlan) hands out free one year trial cards continuously. At least for a year you can get by for $0.
