Hi everyone,

Is there a possibility to set a configuration on Macs that allows AirDrop transfers, but only to other macOS (or iOS) devices, and not to others?

Thanks!

@JureJerebic There is no current restriction like this, and it's one that Apple would have to implement in their MDM protocol before Jamf could ad support for it. It would definitely be a welcome feature though, so I'd suggest providing feedback to Apple requesting it.

This restriction does not exist currently, and Apple would need to implement it in their MDM protocol before Jamf could add support for it. However, it would be a welcome addition, so I would suggest requesting it from Apple via feedback. gorilla tag

You can limit AirDrop on a Mac to only allow transfers from Contacts Only in Finder's AirDrop settings. This ensures interactions remain within Apple devices linked to your contacts, enhancing privacy while maintaining functionality.

You can configure AirDrop on a Mac to allow transfers only to other macOS and iOS devices. Set AirDrop to Contacts Only under System Settings > General > AirDrop & Handoff to limit sharing to known Apple devices. For more control, you can use MDM solutions like Jamf or Apple Configurator to enforce restrictions. If you're concerned about security, you can also temporarily enable Everyone for 10 Minutes to prevent unwanted access.
