We have a fleet of iPads, some requests come in stating that they would like to print using AirPrint, now I know sometimes some of the printer's are not AirPrint enabled so we enable that functionality, and still AirPrint is non functional, we end up having to add the printer brand app to their iPads and manually enter in the IP on the app to have them use the app as like a middle man t print from the iPad - any remedy out there for traditional AirPrint to work as intended?
AirPrint devices like some other services, likes to live on the same network as the device trying to communicate with it. Nice for home setup, not so much for work or education. The service announcing the services offered by the printer, can easily be blocked by different subnets, firewalls and such.
The easy solution? Simplify your network layout. Make the AirPrint device live on the same network as the devices that need to see it.
Harder solution? Configure the network to allow the required traffic.
Enable the following ports to allow AirGroup devices to access AirPrint services:
