Hi All,

I am having a problem getting an iPad app installed from the Self-Service. Sparta Scan is available in the Mac App catalog and we have acquired the appropriate number of VPP licenses from ABM - even renewed our VPP token. When attempting to install via Self-Service, the app completes the installation, but when looking for it on the iPad, we are not seeing anything installed. In the Jamf Pro device management log for that device, I do see that Sparta Scan installed. We've deployed a handful of other apps in similar fashion, but it only seems to be this app.

  • iPad: 10th gen 18.3.1
  • Jamf Pro: 11.14.0
  • App: Sparta Scan 3.32.1

Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

I see that Spart Scan is a Mac app. Can we install Mac apps on iPads? I looked up this app in the Mac App Store and found that there is no iPad app listed there.

Hi @howie_isaacks

My apologies, I meant to say App Store, not the Mac App Store. Thank you for pointing that out!

The Mac App Store will show iPad and iPhone apps in search results. I have installed a few apps on my Mac that were released as iPad or iPhone apps. If the reason why this isn't working for you is because it's only a Mac app and it won't install on an iPad, Jamf Pro should alert you about it rather than pretending to install it.

Figured it out - turns out that app is not supported with 10th gen iPad. Surprising considering this model wasn't released too long ago.

Thanks for riding with me through this journey.

It's nice that it will work if you were installing it on a supported iPad.
