Hello everyone,

For some time now, we have been going over all of our Apple TVs (ATV 4 and 4K) and making sure they are included in Jamf. We manage to add many devices with Apple Confiurator (those with USB-C) via Apple School Manager, while some do not. For those that do not succeed, we order DEP for them through our supplier. Once DEP is activated against Jamf and we reset them and restart them, the activation problem occurs.

Does anyone know why this happens and if there is a way to solve it?

Ordering new Apple TVs with DEP works immediately.

i assume they are on a network that can reach apple’s activation during the setup process? From what i can remember, after devices are added to your ASM / ABM instance, via configurator, they will be added to a separate list, within ASM.

ASM>Preferences>Device Management Services>An entry will be listed there for all your configurator added devices; after they reach ASM, they can then be moved to jamf pro for pre stage style enrollment.

hope that helps.

In this case they are not added to ASM via Configurator. They are added by vendor to ASM afterwards and then activated to Jamf and reset for enrollment.

I hade a simular case with an iPad few days ago that was in DEP and couldn’t be activated. When I deleted the device from ASM (not added with Configurator either) it worked.

Problem solved! Fixed when I choose Set up with iPhone.
