I’m wondering if there’s a way to enable lost mode on a group of iPads in JAMF School.  Using the admin interface you have to click on each iPad one at a time and then enable lost mode.  We have a number of iPads left over from last school year that need to be retired this year and I want to disable them with a message to return them to our Helpdesk staff.  I figure the best way to do this would be to enable Lost Mode.  Is there a bulk way to do this?  Maybe with an API?  I couldn't find anything about this with a casual search.

Or is there any workflows that would make this more efficient?

yes, I'm referring to Jamf Pro. In your smart device group, click on View on the bottom right to view all devices in that smart group, then select the Action button. Select Send Remote Command. Here is the guide about it. https://learn.jamf.com/bundle/jamf-pro-documentation-current/page/Mass_Actions_for_Mobile_Devices.html

As per the title I was looking for a solution for Jamf School.  I heard back from support and they have informed me that this is not possible at this time but a feature request exists and is currently in review.

I don't have any mobile devices to confirm this but on the Mac, if you have a smart group with whatever criteria you have, you can send a remote command action to those macs which includes locking the device. So, create a smart device group and see if that works.

I already do have a smart device group matched on the device models we are retiring.  However, how do you issue remote commands through a device group?  Are you thinking of Jamf Pro.  I know I can do that kind of stuff in Jamf Pro but I can't see how to initiate locking a device in any bulk way.  You can select multiple devices in the Devices > Devices, but locking a device doesn't seem to be an option.
