Hi,

I recently set up a new Windows Distribution Point and am now trying to connect to it via the Jamf Sync App, but cannot get a connection. I see the DP in jamf sync, but it only asks for a password, not for a username. No matter what password I use I always get the error Message “Failed to load the … distribution point: cannotGetFileList”

Unfortunately the new jamf support is pretty useless as there is not more option for me to communicate in english. All communication is automatically translated to german, but the translation is not that good so I often dont quite get what the supporter wants to tell me. Just english would be much better for me.

I also noticed that when I try to connect to my old Linux DP it asks for username+password, and when I connect to the new Windows DP it only asks for the password.

Try creating local user on the Windows DP and give read & write access to the share folder. Also, NTFS permissions must allow full access too.

Already did both, without any results unfortunately.

Have you tried with ‘Connect to Server’ in Go → Finder

Type: smb://yourserver.local/jamf → Enter credentials → check if it’s working or not.

Add credentials in keychain and also Updating to the latest Jamf Admin or Jamf Sync version

Thanks for the tipp, I did not notice I had an outdated version of Jamf Sync installed. Now I at least can put in the username. It still does not work though. Now I get a “mountingFailed” error Message.

For anyone finding this in the future: The Share Name I configured in Jamf Pro under “File Share Distribution Points” → File Sharing → Share Name started with a / When I removed that everything worked normal.
