Hello everyone,


since the major tvOS 18 update, I guess, there are additional screensavers displaying in the Apple TV than the usual skyline (ocean, aerial view of an airport etc.). We use them in conference room mode in schools and even though the screensavers look nice on a 4K display, the distraction of the students especially in elemantary schools is an issue.


Is there a way to stop the screensavers from showing up, I couldn't find a matching setting in Jamf. If not, maybe this should be considered becoming a payload?

To disable the screensavers on Apple TV after the tvOS 18 update, go to the main menu and open the "Settings" app. Navigate to "General," then select "Screensaver." Change the "Start After" option to "Never" to prevent the screensavers from displaying and keep the screen static. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you might need to contact Apple Support or consider using a management payload through Jamf to apply this setting across multiple devices.

with round about 300 apple tvs deployed, I'm eagerly looking for a payload or other possibility via Jamf. Thank you anyway :)

This works and has been tested. Just be aware that this does not turn off screensavers only the ability for time to trigger them. Anyone can still press Menu/Back on the remote and they'll still happily appear.
