Hello,

One Apple TV can't install a device-assigned Disney+ app. The other four devices in the same group installed it fine.

DETAILS
- Jamf instance: retailinnovations.jamfcloud.com
- Device: "Batcave 3", Apple TV 4K (3rd gen), serial K2Q7CXQHWH, tvOS 27.0, mobile device ID 324
- App: Disney+ (com.disney.disneyplus), Jamf mobile device app ID 86 ("Disney+ - Batcave"), Site "Batcave"
- Volume location: "BATCAVE VPP". The Apple Business organizational unit is "BATCAVE", with 5 licenses purchased.
- Seat count: both Apple Business and Jamf show 5 of 5 in use, 0 available.
- Error: INSTALL_APPLICATION fails with ManagedDevice.error 2605, "No license was found for app 'com.disney.disneyplus'".
- Other apps from the same location (DirecTV, Netflix, Paramount+) installed on this device without problems.

WHAT I'VE TRIED
- Cancelled the failed command and sent Update Inventory, then let Jamf re-send the install. This failed at least four times, most recently at 23:23 UTC on 2026-10-18.
- Removed the group from the app's scope, saved, re-added it, and saved. That removed and reinstalled Disney+ on the other devices, but not on this one.

QUESTION
Which device holds each of the 5 Disney+ seats in BATCAVE, and is one attached to the wrong record, or counted twice? Can the seat for this serial be re-issued?

Thank you,
Kevin Balgobin

There are a couple of things here.

First, to check which devices have which licenses, navigate to Devices (Mobile Devices) and choose “Search Volume Content”. You can search and locate the Disney+ app and then click on the link for “In Use” licenses. This will give you a list.

Also, if it’s a free app (pretty sure it is) you can always purchase a large amount of licenses rather than trying to play it exact. I know this isn’t the best advise out there, but it sure helps in narrow cases.

I’m in Jamf School, so I don’t know if this is the same. With app licenses that are stuck or failed, I typically have to make sure any ‘deferred app license removals’ have been forced to complete. In School I can do this under Apps > Inventory > Select all > click ‘Permanently remove deferred items’. I’ve also found that a ‘re-sync licenses’ with Apple also has a tendency to clear ‘stuck’ apps.

Again, this is just a couple things that I can do in School, but maybe there’s a similar process in Pro.
