Hi,

We are using Parental Controls to default deny all websites except for a list of approved websites on our Macs (Parental Controls > Content Filtering > Limit Access to Websites by > Allowing access to the following websites only). Users only have access to Safari for web browsing.

One of the issues we're seeing is that Safari will display the entire list of approved websites to users when they navigate a blocked page. That is they will see the "Opps! You can't see pages on this website" error page and then at the bottom of the page is a list of all approved websites.

Is there a way to hide the list of approved websites?

If there is a way to do this you will likely need to add a custom plist into Applications & Custom Settings. You would need to know the necessary keys and strings for this. Installing this profile as it current is creates a plist called "com.apple.familycontrols.contentfilter.plist" and another called "com.apple.familycontrols.timelimits.plist" in /Library/Managed Preferences. Those are the two preference domains used by the profile. This might also need a setting for Safari which could be added using Applications & Custom Settings. I'm curious. Why would you not want your users to know what the allowed sites are?

I'm not sure if this is possible, and if it is documentation will be severely lacking. Parental Controls are as the name implies, a tool for parents to use to manage their children. Parental Controls are not a part of the MDM stack, and any MDM management over it is minimal at best. Look into something like Jamf Safe Internet, or proper SSL filtering tools like Zscaler, Netskope, Forcepoint or a VPN client with firewall rules as to what people can get to.
