Our Macbooks join domain at following triggers.

- recurring policy

the problem is that even though the mac has joined the domain, the Inventory is not updated for a while and the smart group is not updated and keep showing that computer as domain not joined. Consequently the domain join process keeps repeating itself at the triggers mentioned above.

If you don't have a gigantic deployment (such that inventories put a strain on your Tomcat or MySQL instances), it's not a bad idea to update the inventory after any event which would cause a smart group/licensed software record to change (software install, etc.). That way your scopes are always accurate.
