    Agreed. However, I use JAMF app catalog as a fallback mechanism for failed auto updater installations. 

     

    Using CEC (formerly CBCM) is likely the best way to cause less disruptions AND enforce plugin updates (not to mention the data gathering capabilities) - but some folks may not want to manage ANOTHER console.  With that said, it was a no brainer for us because we can set settings for all chrome browsers for all operating systems from a single location. This allows for parity among all browsers/operating systems. Oh and CEC is the only way to enable the MS single sign on stuff as well giving our users a much better chrome experience.
