Hi,

Our JSS is linked to GSX and thus items show when their warrantee ends but as a data like xx/xx/xxxx. Has anybody devised a way to build an inventory search that show what items are out of warrantee, aka the date listed has already passed? This would help us find items that need replacing. Thanks!

Yeah,

Advanced Search > Criteria > Purchasing > Warranty Expires > more than x days ago > 0

In the quick tests I did, this pulls up any Mac whose warranty has expired in our own system. 45 of them to be exact.

But you may also want to consider creating Smart Groups using similar criteria that look for Macs whose warranty will be expiring in x days, such as 30 days in advance and get emailed about it, so you can be more proactive in getting any repairs done or look at replacements. That'll make you look good ;)
