I'm needing to delete a ton of Smart Device Groups but they all have apps associated to them.  How can I delete these groups without having to go into each one and remove the apps first.  I have 80+ groups and do not want to do each one manually.

Unfortunately, you can't. You will need to do this one by one, eventually you will get it done.

@jpblock82 You'll have to delete the reference to a Smart Group from anything that depends on it before you can delete the group. If the items with dependencies are disable you may be able to use https://github.com/BIG-RAT/Prune to delete the objects. Once the Smart Groups aren't referenced by anything Prune will allow you to remove them in bulk as well.

Wait...seriously?  So if I assigned 20 apps to a group of ipads...I need to go into every single app and unassign it from the group 1 by 1 in order to delete a group?  So instead of say 4 clicks….it’s like 160?

Is this really how this is structured?  Is there some other way to assign apps that won’t cause this?

You may be able to alter the scoping with the api

I get that this can be done from API, but when their lower grade systems like Jamf School have this layer out much easier and simpler I don’t get why it’s not in GUI.  API work is all fine and good, but a ton of this should be gui based with built in scripts.  This feels like crowd sourcing the work that JAMF should be doing.  Not to mention trying to figure out app installs.  You can just go to the app, and see a list and status of everything in Jamf School, but on pro it’s up to you to find the tools.

Just seems like a program that doesn’t have all the features built in right now to me.  Not finding it user friendly at all.
