Sure screenshot from my MDM (Filewave), it's a custom profile.

The XML is further up the thread so you could import that instead. Like I said not sure if its actually working or its just coincidence.

Happy Friday all!

I have been battling with Defender onboarding/network filter popups on our Intel Macs (long story), but an unrelated discovery has stemmed from this config profile swamp..

For years I have deployed a config profile across all labs which sets a dynamic message on the LoginWindow. Cool. That setting (annoyingly) has other things that must be set & get forgotten about (Options, Access, Script).

It seems that unticking the following two settings (in the Options section) have drastically improved the login speed of new user accounts:

  • Disable Apple ID setup during login
  • Disable Siri setup during login

Limited testing so far, but I suspect these 2 settings may be clashing with newer Profiles I created to Skip Welcome To Mac Setup Assistant Screen when Apple started ramping up this crazy behaviour in Sonoma (every time the OS got an update).

Tests so far have gone from logins of 3-4min hanging on LoginWindow, + very sluggish behaviour at the Desktop → 30-60 second login, & responsive when at the Desktop!

Just thought I’d put my findings out there, in the hope it helps others..
