Has anyone had any luck using Apple Classroom with iPad 2s? We have a large amount of these in our district and I've been trying to get it to work even if the classroom has to be all iPad 2 devices.

You will likely have zero luck as iPad 2 and Apple Classroom are officially an unsupported configuration. Because Apple Classroom relies on certain Bluetooth capabilities not present in the Bluetooth module contained in iPad 2. The good news is that Casper Focus is supported on these devices and that Casper Focus (I guess it's called Jamf Focus now) and Apple Classroom use the same database table in the JSS. Not the answer you were wanting likely, but hopefully it's helpful.
