We are trying to load an in-house app into Mobile Device apps.  We started to make the new record, uploaded the file in archived app file, but had to cancel the attempt.  Trying a 2nd time, it reports there is already an ipa with that name.  Where can I go to delete that or can I just select that??  I did not find it in Settings > Packages.

Hi Ahadub,

This is a common scenario when creating in-house app records in Jamf Pro. The issue you're experiencing is that an incomplete app record was created in the Mobile Device Apps section when you cancelled the initial upload, and now Jamf Pro is detecting a bundle identifier conflict.

Where to find and delete the incomplete app record:

  1. Navigate to Devices > Mobile Device Apps in Jamf Pro
  2. Look through your app list for the in-house app with the same name or bundle identifier you're trying to upload
  3. The incomplete record should appear in this list even though you cancelled the upload
  4. Click on the app record to open it
  5. Click Delete at the bottom of the page to remove the incomplete record

Important notes:

  • The app won't appear in Settings > Packages because that section is for macOS packages (.pkg files), not iOS/iPadOS app files (.ipa)
  • In-house apps are stored separately in the Mobile Device Apps inventory
  • Once you delete the incomplete record, you should be able to create a new record with the same app name/bundle identifier

Alternative approach - Select existing record: If the app record was partially created with some valid information, you could alternatively:

  1. Open the existing app record
  2. Go to the General tab
  3. Upload your .ipa file to the existing record instead of creating a new one
  4. Complete the remaining configuration
