Hello folks,

we encounter a problem on some iPads (Gen 9) that were upgraded to IOS 26.1

We use Jamf School and also Jamf Safe Internet on these devices.

The ipads still connect to the wifi but it says no internet.

The ipads don’t check in to the Jamf School Dashboard so i cannot

change the settings there.

Is there a known problem with IOS 26 and Jamf Safe Internet?

thanks in advance

We have the same issue with iPads running 26.1. I have been doing some investigation work and have found that removing our config profile for VPN’s / Jamf Trust content filtering stops the issue from happening however for affected devices they require a wipe and re-enroll (with them excluded from offending profiles).

We have this logged with JAMF at the moment for investigation and our only work around at the moment is to have all our iPads sent back to us for wipe / reconfiguration which is causing chaos

Nothing so far from Jamf.

We have done some internal testing and found if you use Jamf Trust’s content filtering / VPN configuration it instantly breaks the devices on 26.1. We have disabled this configuration from all iPads and have had to wipe them which has allowed us to redeploy them as a work around for now.

I just got an info/newsletter from jamf:

We are reaching out to advise that we have discovered a compatibility issue between iOS or iPadOS 26.1 and Jamf Trust or other On-Device Content Filter (ODCF) tools when using hidden-app mode.

This issue impacts internet connectivity for devices that meet the following conditions:
•    Running iOS 26.1 or iPadOS 26.1
•    Jamf Trust (or alternative ODCF app) deployed in a "hidden" state
•    The device is restarted
This can also occur when using Kiosk Mode, App Usage configurations, Allowed Content Rating, or Screentime restrictions. Recovery from this state requires a full device wipe and reinstall.

If you are currently on iOS or iPadOS 26.0 or earlier, we recommend that you do not upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 26.1 until this issue is resolved.

If you do plan to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 26.1, we recommend the following actions to ensure that Jamf Trust is accessible and visible on all devices it is installed on:
•    Remove App Usage configurations that hide Jamf Trust
•    Disable Kiosk Mode
•    Do not apply Screentime controls or Allowed Content Rating controls that restrict access to Jamf Trust or Jamf Pro apps
Alternatively, you can disable the ODCF payload. Please note, this will disable all content filtering.

If your devices have already been impacted by this issue, recovery requires a full device wipe and reinstall.

For additional questions and needs, please log in to Jamf Account with your Jamf ID and click Contact Support in the upper right-hand corner to get help.

Can anyone elaborate on what they mean by “hidden state”?

We don’t use Jamf Trust, but we do use configuration profiles with the content filter payload and in some cases we configure screen time content restrictions on device and I’m worried that will mean we are impacted. Luckily we have deferred updates do don’t have a significant number of users on 26.1 yet, but yet sounds like a ticking bomb here.

We are in the same boat. Our web filter (Linewize Connect) has a config profile with a content filtering payload in it. Our devices on 26.1 will not complete enrollment with that payload deploying. The device enrolls but loses internet connectivity and gets hung up before the automated enrollment screen completes. I have found that deploying the profile after enrollment is complete works, but I am concerned that internet connectivity may still be impacted without warning.

Thanks - I saw that post. It still didn't answer in as much detail as I was hoping to get.

Some of us like the nitty gritty and want all the details so we can understand the issue better and make the best decisions. :)

If your iPad running iOS 16.1 (or later) shows “No Internet Connection” while using Safe Internet or similar filtering services, it often points to a network configuration or DNS-filtering issue. Start by toggling Airplane Mode on and off, then restart the iPad to refresh all network settings.

We’re using InTune and have had the same issue.  Crowdstrike and have found the following helps (without the need to wipe the device)
