Did the mission of Jamf Nation change with the recent update? The recent activity feed is full of volunteer stuff, did I miss a memo somewhere?
Hello
Hope you are enjoying the new location and please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
and obviously now Google / search links seem dead..
search seems totally fubar and I have zero interest in post about jamf now or jamf protect.. all in the same basket..
you wouldn’t run a bbs like this.. or any other forum..
considering “we built this city” it’s another poor show.. maybe I’m wrong..
Hello
- The platform provider we used prior was acquired and dismantled.
- 98% of all web traffic was towards Jamf Pro board only. This prevented all other topics from being viewed. We asked the community and a single source of communication was a top 5 thing requested from users to prevent confusion.
- I acknowledge the redirect issue and have a ticket open to get this resolved. I agree that this should have been completed and implemented correctly. Sorry again for this issue and Im on this to get it fixed.
Was there today having a super irrelevant conversation with AI 🥸
if I need support (that we pay for) I don’t need suggestions l, been doing this for way too long
fun’s times.. JNUC will be interesting 🤨

Thanks for the reply. Not sure who you asked, wasn’t me and the jamf nation board was old and clunky years ago.. can you explain why by search for “legacy” posts returns sweet fa .. 🤨
So many of the links to Jamf nation in google and even on this form do not work anymore. What is going on? So many years of knowledge destroyed, why??

Happy to look into this for you! Is there an example you could share so I could better understand?
There is an issue with some url redirects at the moment. Could it be related to this?

Was the linking working in development or did AI just do the migration so everything should be 100% working.
Taking away categories also takes away the option to easily see(choose Jamf School, Safe Internet) posts for topics you care about. Now you reply on other peoples ability to tag correctly. Easier to tag several categories, yes, but not so easy to find new issues for one product. I feel we lost a bit of the technical, for ease of use for random posters with 1 post to their profile.
Mitchell_Gordon I get that 98% of traffic went to the Jamf Pro board, but that reflects product adoption, not bad forum structure. Jamf Protect, Safe Internet, and School have much smaller user bases. Most admins simply don’t use those tools, so they naturally skip those posts.
The real issue isn’t visibility, it’s engagement. For tools like Protect, most of the conversation happens in Slack, not Jamf Nation. Even Jamf employees are more active there than here. As for Jamf School, its UI/UX is completely different from Jamf Pro for reasons beyond me, which makes it unfamiliar territory for most Pro admins. So again, those posts get ignored.
If Jamf wants meaningful participation on Jamf Nation, support engineers need to show up and lead. Community Managers like yourself are doing what you can, but that only goes so far. Without deeper involvement from product and support teams, users will keep migrating to more responsive platforms like Slack which is where the Jamf Support Engineers are active for Jamf Protect I know for personal experence.
Right now, the new Jamf Nation just feels like noise. There’s no clear filter for recent posts, necro’d threads are clogging the feed, and unanswered questions are buried. The interface is visually cluttered and hard to navigate. Honestly, I have to wonder whether accessibility was even considered, it’s a mess for users with sensory or executive function issues.
I have tested a little over 200 links from search engine providers. I did not have issues in testing but if you do run across anything, please let me know!
Yes, Jamf Nation is still an active and valuable technical community hub for Apple IT professionals. It continues to serve as a platform where users, administrators, and developers can ask questions, share best practices, troubleshoot issues, and stay updated on Jamf-related tools and Apple device management strategies.
My personal opinion is JAMF is working towards being more community oriented. I think they want to have the technical side of things but they also want to be seen as a fun place to connect and meet other like minded people who are working on the same issue. IDK but just my opinion.
I have to say, I find it far less attractive to have one giant bucket for everything under the sun. Slack isn’t perfect, but at least I can generally focus on the topic of interest. Less noise makes me more inclined to browse discussions.

What is annoying me right now, is there is not a way to filter by when a post was created leading stuff like my post floating to the top when someone comments on it. It also appears they removed the ability to mark something as resolved, leading to lost of random stuff being at the top of the feed. Ya, I really don't like this and its actually caused me to pay far less attention to Jamf Nation.
Aside from all the lovely posts above, I used to have some nice title like “Dark Knight of Jamf Nation” (joking of course) and now I barely make a “Valued Contributor”!
I mean, did I make someone mad?
AI doesn’t like the name Scott?
Inquiring demoted minds want to know...it kinda reminds me of when Apple Discussions community was revamped and I couldn’t take it after many years of contributing. Sometimes a decision to modernize isn’t always the right one...

Hello
The gamification ranks and titles were brought over from the prior platform. Those ranks and titles were inplace prior to me starting here almost 2 years ago.
Rest assured, I am not an AI bot but a real human.
Thank you for your feedback and I can see about getting some naming changes brought into the gamification system.

Not being able to sort search results by time posted, makes the General discussions search worse. We can’t sort by product unless it has been tagged correctly by the OP either.
Bring back the product categories, and we might have an option to see new posts in our product interest areas. Just saw a Jamf employee post a Youtube video update in General discussions.
I am NOT a fan of this new version. Yesterday, I responded to a post from someone new who wanted help with installing Rapid7 on Macs. I shared with him my install script and described how I created my install policy. Over 18 hours later, my response to him is STILL not there. When I replied, I saw a notice that my response was waiting for approval by the moderators. It looks like responses will be sitting in moderator limbo. I used to rave about how fast I would get a response when I posted a question here. You, @AJPinto have been a huge help to me over the years, which I really appreciate. You are mentioned in a lot of the scripts that I have written, even though no one else ever sees them but me. For all of the 10 years that I have been using Jamf Nation, it has been a great place to get help and help others. I do my best to provide as much help as I ask for from others. I am very disappointed with Jamf Nation in its current form. I’m not at all confident that this response that I am writing now will actually appear here since it will likely sit in moderation purgatory.
