Was this a feature add that administrators have been clamoring for over other features or is this just another case of everything needs to have AI jammed into it?

As someone that hasn’t used it and didn’t particularly want it, I do think that they had to do it. Their competitors would be doing the same thing and every other part of the tech industry is doing it, so while I would love for a company to take a firm stand against it, that’s a tough call to actually make when you are trying not to give up any ground to the competition.

Also, if you are working as a the sole IT person in a company and don’t get to spend a ton of time getting to learn the ins and outs of your Jamf environment, I can see the benefit of having that feature to help answer questions quickly about your environment and how to use the tools. For us holdouts, nobody is forcing us to use it...not yet, at least...

Well, I’m not sure how it came about but I’ve had the good fortune to begin playing with this in Beta in addition to the JNUC booth featuring it, and I’ve been very impressed. While I think it will be critically helpful for newer or less experienced Admins, I’ve personally found it to be a great check against my own aging knowledge base. I sometimes worry that the way I know how to do something may be outdated and it’s been a great check against that to be sure I’m still aware of all the new features or methods for accomplishing x, y, or z. It really will spit out full workflows with some pretty great instructive walkthroughs.

. . . a tough call to actually make when you are trying not to give up any ground to the competition. . .

Providing it as an option that can be opted-in is a good call in this respect, I think.

JAMF Pro: Who asked for an AI Assistant?

The answer is deceptively simple. Shareholders want AI assistance as they think this lowers the need for FTE’s due to not yet grasping that AI is a force multiplier and not a labor replacement.

AI is a force multiplier and not a labor replacement.

I love this quote!

I think the biggest issue is that there are two completely different conversations happening around AI. One is about companies adding “AI” to every product because the market expects it, and the other is about genuinely useful implementations that save time or help people work more efficiently.

The idea that AI is a force multiplier rather than a replacement is probably the most realistic way to look at it. A good assistant can help someone with less experience become productive faster, while experienced admins can use it to verify things, discover new features, or avoid spending time digging through documentation.

The real question shouldn’t be “who asked for AI?” but whether the AI feature actually solves a problem.

Feeling what @josephhh mentioned. I’ve been surprised at some of the discoveries in my environment. The graphs its comes up with on the spot are also helpful. It’s been a nice assistant. Personally, I’ve been making a point of trying to use it.

I’ve been so used to the Jamf Pro landing page and my way of things. It’s been a big help for me to discover, rediscover, and learn new things.
