Has anyone implemented Lights Out Management for Big Sur or Monterey? I can't seem to find any documentation whatsoever to proceed. Please help!

I’m also looking to implement this in our environment. There is very little documentation on this out there. Does Jamf support LOM?

Jamf Pro supports Lights Out Management (LOM), but there are important hardware and configuration requirements to be aware of.

Supported Hardware: LOM is only available on specific Mac models with dedicated hardware:

  • Mac Studio (2022, 2023, 2025)
  • Mac mini with 10Gb Ethernet (2020, 2023, 2024)
  • Mac Pro (2019, 2023) including Rack models

Standard Mac mini, MacBook, or iMac models do not support LOM.

Requirements:

  • macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later
  • Both Controller and Device Macs must be on the same local subnet using Ethernet (IPv6)
  • Both devices must be enrolled in the same MDM service
  • Requires a custom Configuration Profile with com.apple.lom payload and proper certificates

Implementation: Jamf Pro doesn't have a built-in LOM payload in the GUI. You'll need to create a custom Configuration Profile with the com.apple.lom payload, including properly configured certificates for Controller/Device authentication.
