Hello,

We are enrolling our current iPads into Jamf via ABM and most are working well.

I have one staff member that has an iPad that is part of a family plan with their kids. When I wiped the iPad and then restore it using their personal Apple account and restore their backup it never prompts for our MDM profile to be installed and it just reboots continues to restore the backup.

The iPad is in prestage enrollment in JamF and I have enrolled it successfully without using the personal Apple family account.

Can an iPad that is part of a family plan use an MDM from Jamf and be managed by Jamf?

Thank you.

It's probable due to you recovering from a backup. There is some interaction with backups and the management state of the device the backup was taken on. If the backup is of a personal device, it will restore as a personal device. It's been a while since I read over that stuff but this is where I suggest starting.

thank you for the reply. I think you may be right. I am trying a few work arounds but the iCloud backup is 32gb so taking awhile.

Yes, it should work if properly configured in Jamf settings.

If device enrollment isn't an option then have you tried user initiated enrollment?  This usually entails going to an enrollment page and downloading a profile to initiate enrollment.  The device won't be supervised so you will lose some control but this is still an option.
