New Apple App Age restrictions?

We currently have our students set an app age restriction of 12+ in our MDM  Today we came across an app, Grammarly Keyboard, that is now 13+ .  That causes the app to install and then immediately remove.

Our only other option in the MDM is 17+

Anyone else running into this issue? Any other apps in the 13+ category?

My response from Jamf - so much for zero day support.

Unfortunately with Apple's age settings, we are not able to override that. A future version of Jamf Pro will adjust that, but right now we do not have the ability to change the age setting to 13 from 12.

@bfrench Are students allowed to install apps from the App Store or do you limit them to only apps you add to Self Service?

Students are limited based on managed Apple ID’s.  However if they log out and back in with a personal Apple ID then they have access to the full appstore.  Blocking the ability to change accounts impacted iCloud backups and blocking the appstore impacted the ability to deploy books.

Interesting. We block the App Store and deploy any needed books through Jamf Pro. This allows us to have the App Store blocked even if they sign in with a personal Apple Account. Does your district use Jamf School?
