Good morning,

I am currently working with a MacBook that is on preparing a script to help my team to control power settings. At this time pmset does not have a direct way to change this setting via terminal. I also do not see any configuration profiles settings that allow us to set the limit either. Has anyone else tried to test the charge limit on MacBook?

Please be aware that discussing beta features of Apple operating systems violates the NDA.

The user is testing a MacBook on macOS 26.4 Beta and wants to script a way to change the battery charge limit. However, the pmset command doesn’t support changing this setting, and there are no configuration profile options available either. They are asking if others have found a method to manage or automate the charge limit on MacBook.

They are publicly discussing an upcoming feature in a future version of macOS, which violates Apple’s NDA when agreeing to use the beta versions of Apple's operating systems.

I understand your concern for the NDA; however, this particular topic was mention on 9to5Mac just a few days ago. I was just checking to see if anyone else had an idea on how to control power settings using shell script.

so I’m going to also second the NDA part here. As much as I hate redirecting anyone, you probably will need to take this to the Apple Developer Forums until this is released software. Most people on these boards are nice and would try to help anyone, but no one is going to risk an encounter with Apple’s legal team by posting such information in a public forum.

I haven’t looked at 26.4 yet and could be totally wrong, but I would be checking man pages for both systemsetup and pmset commands. It might also be a new MDM restriction or a new declaration. Suppressing the Math Tools AI functions requires the use of a declaration.

I will edit the discussion topic that way I will not go against the NDA.

Thank you MusicCityMic and blackholemac for voicing your concerns.
