Hi Guys,

We are facing very weird issue at our Orgs, where none of the packages are getting installed during enrollment for some devices. The issue is not for all the devices, and usually for few devices but been having this issue once in a while.

All the packages are signed, and works perfectly fine for most of the device. And for god sake, we cant replicate this issue whenever we do a testing.

Those devices who have issue with package installation, usually works once wiped and re-run the enrolment process.

Does anyone have idea on how to get this sorted?

Since the issue only affects some devices intermittently and works after a wipe/re-enroll, this is most likely a network timing issue during Setup Assistant — the device doesn't have enough time to download all packages before moving on.

Quick fix: Create a policy with enrollmentComplete trigger to install the same packages as a fallback. This catches any packages that fail to install during PreStage.

Thanks @h1431532403240 But we do want some packages to be installed before enrollmentComplete, such as Jamf connect, JSM.

Have they recently been made into a new prestage? Very often the issue is that the distribution point is not selected. I’d start there.

Also, check your scoping. if the computers were not wiped between re-enrolling, the scoping may see that an app is already there and not deploy it.

@mattjerome the distribution point is setup as Cloud.

And this packages are installed during PreStage Enrollment, so should install of all Computer duing enrollment process.

@Yam_Moktan you’re correct….in the past I’ve just seen weirdness (technical term) with scoping or not wiping the computer in between setups

This is a strange one. Since it only affects random devices intermittently and works after a wipe/re-enroll, it could be a network timing issue during Setup Assistant, or possibly a macOS version-specific bug.

I'd recommend opening a support ticket with Jamf — they may have seen similar cases and can help dig deeper.

@h1431532403240 Yes its very random and cant pinpoint the common ground for a root cause.

Have open the ticket with Jamf, but havent been able to move forward.
