Hi,
We have to renew any iPads fleet from our parc.

Is there a way to massively remove devices, as iPads from Jamf?
Also the same question in AppleSchool Manager?

Thanks for your tips.

Best Regards.

If you have a list of serial numbers, you can copy and paste the serials into ASM and release them all at once.

In Jamf you can create a Static Group using MUT and in mass, unmanage the devices.

Let me know if you need help.

ASM is easy. You simply need a csv of ther serial numbers. Head to the devices tab and then put the list in the search. I don’t know if there is a limit on characters in the search. It will then return each device in the list, plus one entry that is all of your list of devices. Simply choose the all of the list and remove them from ASM. ( I have in the past simply selected a column of serials from a spreadsheet and copied that then pasted that into ASM and it worked it all out.)

At this point Jamf should still have them, so send them a wipe. They will wipe and then as they are no longer in ASM they will set back up not under any MDM control.

I have little faith in my ability to make a good csv list, so I would tend to first assign them to no MDM, but keep them in ASM. Do all the wiping etc, then when happy go back into ASM and remove them.

You don’t say if you are a Jamf Pro or a Jamf School setup. I am Jamf Pro, and if you were to have the devices in their own group, or groups, so long as there aren’t any extra devices you are keeping in those groups, open the group, view its membership, send a remote command, and one of the options is Wipe device, it will send to them all providing they are on the network to get the wipe command. I cant say what this would be like in Jamf School.

Check out this tool that I created.  It’ll do a lot of what you’re asking:
https://github.com/jawheelr/Apple-Device-Action-Tool

I was iterating on it a bit but lost focus to put the same functionality into a docker container and make it a URL instead of a thick application.  Anywho, I may put out a new version in the near future with reporting associated.
