Hey, I’m curious if anyone has come up with a way to build a smart group that can report specifically on apps located in ~/Applications, since /Applications currently only shows system-level applications.

If you create a Smart Group with the name of the application it will get the details directly from the Application Folder.

Like Google Chrome.app should get you Application and version installed in the Application Folder itself.

Let me know if i understand this correctly or is there anything your looking in specifically.

Give an Example so that we can help you better

I want to check and gather information from ~/Applications (a user-specific directory), and there is no ~/Applications criteria in the smart group.

Can you add a custom search path for the user Applicatons? Then build a smart group off that inventory collection?

Keep in mind that users can run apps from pretty much any directory.  If you’re going to want to know what’s in ~/Applications, you’ll likely also want ~/Downloads, ~/Desktop, and ultimately everything in their user directory.  It’s a can of worms you’re looking at opening.
